FlexiRoam enters hotel loyalty market with two-year Dragonpass partnership

Flexiroam (ASX:FRX) has signed a two-year connectivity partnership with global travel services platform Dragonpass, opening a new distribution channel into the hotel and travel loyalty market and securing its first hospitality use case.

Under the agreement, Flexiroam (ASX:FRX)’s global mobile data services can be embedded into Dragonpass offerings distributed through its enterprise clients and partner programs.

The first campaign will support the loyalty program of an unnamed top-three global hotel group, with FlexiRoam providing a global eSIM data reward to new members.

The initial three-month campaign is estimated to generate around US$100,000, or approximately A$140,000, based on current planning assumptions.

There is no minimum volume or revenue commitment under the agreement, meaning actual revenue will depend on the number of eligible members generated during the campaign.

The deal comes hot on the heels of a two-year agreement with Etihad 1 for FlexiRoam to provide connectivity across the airline’s operations, spanning three use cases - with a framework to add more over time.

Global distribution channel

Dragonpass operates a digital platform for airport, travel and lifestyle services, with more than 40 million members across over 130 countries.

Its network includes access to more than 1,400 airport lounges and 650 dining locations, while it works with more than 400 global brands and distributes travel benefits for more than 200 banks, card issuers and telecommunications providers.

The partnership gives FlexiRoam access to travel loyalty and hospitality programs through a single channel rather than requiring separate integrations with individual brands.

FlexiRoam will earn a fee for each data entitlement issued through campaigns established under the partnership.

The two-year framework also allows additional Dragonpass programs, products and markets to be added subject to further agreement.

First hotel loyalty campaign

The initial three-month campaign will provide new loyalty program members with 3GB of global data valid for 10 consecutive days across more than 150 countries.

Customers will be able to activate the service through a FlexiRoam microsite and AI-powered WhatsApp agent without downloading an app, while additional data can be purchased directly through the agent.

The agreement marks FlexiRoam’s first move into hotel loyalty and expands a channel strategy already being applied through partnerships in financial services, travel insurance, telecommunications and aviation.

FlexiRoam CEO and executive director Jefrey Ong said the agreement represented the company’s strategy working as intended.

“This is our model working the way we said it would: find the partner who already owns the customer, put our data inside what they offer, and let the platform do the rest.”

Ong said the first campaign would act as a “proving ground”, while the broader framework had been structured to accommodate additional campaigns.
