De Grey Mining Ltd (ASX:DEG) has delineated new high-grade gold lodes at the Withnell 377,300 ounce deposit within the Pilbara Gold Project near Port Hedland in Western Australia.
An ongoing reverse circulation (RC) and diamond drilling program is targeting high-grade lodes beneath the Withnell open pit with results continuing to build on previous drilling.
Assays cover 11 RC holes as well as eight diamond holes with a highlight being 3 metres at 39.21 g/t from 169 metres, including 2 metres at 57.95 g/t from 169 metres,

The results represent mineralisation that will be included in a maiden Withnell underground resource model, which expected to be completed during the quarter.
This is likely to add to the current Withnell resource of 6.37 million tonnes at 1.8 g/t for 377,300 ounces, which makes it the largest deposit within the 1.4 million ounce Pilbara project.
De Grey's technical director Andy Beckwith said: “Withnell is a large 6-kilometre-long brownfields gold system with a number of shallow deposits already discovered along this trend.
“Deeper drilling below the existing Withnell Main shallow open pit shows the mineralisation extends over 1.2 kilometres of strike and continues at depth to greater than 400 metres.
“The shallow resources at Camel, Roe and Dromedary along the six kilometres of Withnell shear are interpreted to have similar plunging shoots, however, other than under the Withnell Main zone there is very little drilling below 100 metres depth under these deposits.
“Over the next 12 months we will continue to test for high-grade plunging shoots beneath the Withnell open pit and along the 6-kilometre strike below the other deposits.”

Other notable results include:
- 5.19 metres at 4.39 g/t gold from 250.14 metres;
- 8.7 metres at 2.91 g/t from 434 metres;
- 6 metres at 4.03 g/t from 100 metres;
- 1-metre at 23.7 g/t from 139 metres;
- 4 metres at 6 g/t from 163 metres, including 1-metre at 15.4 g/t;
- 8 metres at 2.89 g/t from 237 metres; and
- 0.56 metres at 49.8 g/t from 275.67 metres.
De Grey is continuing to expand the resource at depth and is targeting higher-grade plunging shoots below the shallow open pit mineralisation.
Multiple new subparallel lodes continue to be discovered as the density of drilling increases.
