Nexus Minerals Ltd - Nexus Minerals leverages new geological model of Crusader-Templar prospect to better target resource expansion drilling

Nexus Minerals Ltd (ASX:NXM) has generated a new geological model of the Crusader-Templar prospect of the Wallbrook Gold Project in WA, which will be used to better target planned resource expansion drilling at the prospect.

The company built the new geological model from geochemical and petrochemical analysis of diamond drilling results, which included 21 holes for 9,784 metres of drill core. Two diamond-drilled holes have yet to be assayed.

Nexus’ data revealed multiple zones of mineralised, altered and silicified quartz porphyry swarms along a 1.6-kilometre strike.

Gold mineralisation was also intersected in deep, ‘feeder’ structures, and in the lumbs and fold closures of more shallow quartz porphyry units.

Notable results from structural analysis data

NXM’s structural analysis of drill core revealed multiple notable intersections of mineralisation:

  • 3.5 metres at 3.96g/t gold from 218m, including 1.5 metres at 8.30g/t gold;
  • 5.8 metres at 2.36g/t gold from 293.6 metres, including 3 metres at 4.18 g/t gold;
  • 8.4 metres at 1.84g/t gold from 341.6 metres, including 3 metres at 4.07g/t gold;
  • 4 metres at 1.90g/t gold from 553 metres, including 1.4 metres at 4.60g/t gold;
  • 2 metres at 3.42g/t gold from 207.5 metres;
  • 1.9 metres at 3.80g/t gold from 297.3 metres;
  • 5.5 metres at 1.66g/t gold from 264.1 metres, including 2.9 metres at 2.48g/t gold; and
  • 3.6 metres at 2.45g/t gold from 284.4 metres.

Step change in geological understanding

“The information gained from this diamond drill program has provided a step change in our geological understanding and interpretation of this very large mineralised system,” Nexus Minerals managing director Andy Tudor said.

“The diamond drill holes have intersected multiple zones of gold mineralisation within the same mineralised, altered and silicified quartz porphyry rock unit, intersected in our previous shallow RC (reverse circulation) drill program.

“The results have enabled Nexus to create a geological model which will allow for more targeted future drill program planning.”

Nexus will use its newly gained understanding of the Wallbrook project to inform its upcoming exploration activities, which include:

Crusader-Templar: RC drill program planning underway. The planned drill program will be used predominantly for expanding the potential resource base outside of reported pit shells.

It will also provide increased confidence levels to the inputs for the mineral resource estimate (expected Q1 2023).

Branches: RC drill program planning underway. Following the early drill success at the Branches discovery this year the company believes the opportunity exists to materially increase the prospect's strike and depth extent.

The planned drill program will also increase the drill density and allow for the prospect to be included in the mineral resource estimate (expected Q1 2023).

Regional Targets: Aircore drill program planning underway to test mineralised corridors MC1, MC2, MC3 and MC4.

The planned drill program will be aided by the regional geophysical program results and with the knowledge that the folded geological architecture allows for deposition of the gold in “feeder” structures and the limbs and fold closures of shallow quartz porphyry units.

Nexus Minerals starts drilling at Bethanga

Nexus Minerals Ltd (ASX:NXM) managing director Andy Tudor sits down with Jonathan Jackson to discuss the start of a 2,000-metre diamond drill program at the Bethanga copper-gold project, 260-kilometres northeast of Melbourne in Victoria. The company is targeting areas prospective for copper-gold...
