Latin Resources Ltd (ASX:LRS) has been encouraged by visual spodumene estimates in resource definition drilling at the Colina Prospect within the Bananal Valley Lithium corridor, with core logging confirming down-dip continuations of mineralisation and thickening of previously intersected lithium pegmatites.
The first two holes of the program intersected very wide pegmatites, interpreted to hold a core of notable spodumene with visual estimation.
The company has noted these intersections are wider than previous intercepts in adjacent drill holes and confirm the potential of the Colina pegmatites.
Visual spodumene estimates
Latin Resource noted 5 intersections of drill core with a visually estimated spodumene content over 20%, including:
- 21.48 metres of coarse-grained pegmatite with partially weathered elongate spodumene crystals from 96.85 metres;
- 4 metres of coarse-grained pegmatite with fresh light green/white elongate spodumene crystals from 137 metres;
- 1.87 metres of coarse-grained pegmatite with fresh light green/white elongate spodumene crystals from 144 metres;
- 1.79 metres of coarse-grained pegmatite with fresh light green/white elongate spodumene crystals from 173.29 metres; and
- 9.15 metres of coarse-grained pegmatite with fresh light green/white elongate spodumene crystals from 178 metres.
Resource definition drilling is ongoing, with a maiden resource estimate targeted for late 2022.
In addition, the first five drill holes at the Monte Alto prospect – again within the Bananal Valley Lithium corridor – have been completed, with focus now shifting to the immediate area where re-mapping outcrop has confirmed the presence of weathered spodumene crystals at surface.
