Animoca Brands Corporation Ltd has launched play-to-earn options for its mobile game Benji Bananas with Ethereum-based token ApeCoin as the primary reward for players.

Issued by the ApeCoin decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO), ApeCoin (APE) is an ERC-20 (the standard Ethereum smart contract token) governance and utility token being adopted by Bored Ape Yacht Club and its ecosystem as the primary token for new products and services.

Known as BAYC, the collection was launched in April of 2021 and has expanded to include the spinoff collections Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC), and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC).
