Twitter to allow ‘Blue’ members use NFT as profile picture

Social media site expands crypto offering to tempt NFT lovers to pay US$3 a month

Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) will allow fee-paying ‘Blue’ members to connect their crypto wallet to their social media account and use a non-fungible token (NFT) as their profile picture.

Only Twitter ‘Blue’ subscribers will have access to the feature although it will be visible for all users. Non-subscribers will be able to click on the NFT for more information.

The feature is “still under active development” and could either be rolled out to all users or removed entirely, according to a report on the Engadget website.

Twitter began the US$3-a-month ‘Blue’ subscription service in November to entice NFT lovers to pay for specialised features.
