Seeing Machines announces strategic partnership with Ambarella

It said the agreement should allow for the creation of ‘the best’ driver and occupant monitoring systems

Seeing Machines Ltd (AIM:SEE, OTC:SEEMF) announced today a collaboration with US semiconductor designer Ambarella to bring integrated advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) and occupant and driver monitoring system (OMS and DMS) solutions to the market.

The AIM-listed computer vision technology company says its OMS and DMS solutions will be provided to Ambarella’s edge artificial intelligence perception systems-on-chip to create complete and integrated DMS and ADAS solutions.

Seeing Machines will enable its embedded Driver Monitoring Engine (e-DME) software to provide a “highly optimized, accelerated ‘back end’.”

This e-DME back end will utilize the acceleration engine inside Ambarella's systems-on-chip, allowing forward-facing ADAS camera designers to seamlessly integrate Seeing Machines' proven OMS and DMS technology.

The partnership marks the start of a strategic relationship between the two companies, they said, with plans to use each other’s skills, products, and experience to create driver and occupant monitoring systems.

Seeing Machines announced one such new solution yesterday, this time alongside OMNIVISION.

"The Ambarella reference design platform, targeting the headliner location, is a key integration point for DMS/OMS technology in both the processing and sensor space,” Seeing Machines chief executive Paul McGlone said.

“We are excited to work towards offering our e-DME targeting Ambarella's silicon and to also work closely on the fusion of our technology with companies focusing on external vehicle sensing,” McGlone added.
