4D pharma PLC (AIM:DDDD, NASDAQ:LBPS) said it is to present microbiome analyses from phase II clinical trials of its drug Blautix, revealing its impact on the two major forms of irritable bowel syndrome – IBS-C and IBS-D.
The results, to be presented in an e-poster at the Gastro 2021 conference starting December 11, chart changes in gut microbiome structure following administration of the 4D live biotherapeutic. The data is from new faecal microbiome analyses.
"The additional microbiome analyses from the phase II study represent an interesting and important finding, further establishing the mechanisms through which Blautix exerts its beneficial effects in both IBS-C and IBS-D,” said Professor Eamonn Quigley, the trial’s chief investigator.
“The results show that administration of a single strain live biotherapeutic can have significant positive effects on the composition and structure of the microbiome in these patients."
The Gastro 2021 presentation is available via the posters and presentations area of the 4D pharma website.
