Disney appoints Susan Arnold to succeed Bob Iger as chair

"Susan is the perfect choice for chairman of the board, and I am confident the company is well-positioned for continued success under her guidance and leadership," Bob Iger said.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) said it has appointed Susan Arnold as its new chair with effect from 31 December 2021.

Arnold, who has been on the Disney board for 14 years, succeeds Robert Iger.

“Susan is an incredibly esteemed executive whose wealth of experience, unwavering integrity, and expert judgment have been invaluable to the company since she first joined the board in 2007,” said Iger.

“Having most recently served as independent lead director, Susan is the perfect choice for chairman of the board, and I am confident the company is well-positioned for continued success under her guidance and leadership.”

Iger has served as chairman of Disney since 2012, as executive chairman since 2020 and was its chief executive between 2005 and 2020.

As CEO, he expanded the company with the acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and 21st Century Fox (NASDAQ:FOXA) and saw the release of record-setting films such as Marvel’s Black Panther, Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, Disney’s Frozen and Frozen 2.

Arnold was formerly an executive at The Carlyle Group and also held executive positions at Procter and Gamble and McDonald's Corp.
