Ora Banda’s geological setting is analogous to the +2.5 million ounces at +4g/t Invincible Gold Mine, discovered by Gold Fields Limited near Kambalda in 2012.
Further to this, the Ora Banda region is highly prospective, with several mines operating in the local area. Historic mines include Siberia, Bullant, Mt Pleasant, Cashmans and Lady Bountiful within 15 kilometres of the project.
Previous soil sampling conducted by Carnavale confirmed historic gold anomalies and identified multiple additional +50ppb gold in soil anomalies coincident with arsenic in soil anomalies.
Program targets cover gold under cover
Carnavale is conducting a circa 10,000-metre program designed to test for structurally controlled gold mineralisation under cover.
The project area covers about 25 square kilometres and is 65 kilometres northwest of Kalgoorlie in the Yilgarn Craton, Western Australia.
Soil sampling followed a review of existing and publicly available geophysical aeromagnetic surveys to define stratigraphic and structural target zones that have the potential to host gold mineralisation.
Potential for large deposit
“We are excited to have started CAV’s first aircore drilling at Ora Banda this week,” CEO Humphrey Hale said.
“This initial aircore program of 10,000 metres follows up on the gold anomalies outlined in the recent CAV soil sampling program and the positive shallow bedrock gold results from the limited historic drilling.
"It is our view that the Ora Banda South Project has the potential to host a significant gold deposit along 15 kilometres of the Carnage Shear Zone within the tenement package.
"The project is very under-explored with a geological setting analogous to the +2.5 million ounces at +4g/t Invincible deposit at St Ives.”
New drill targets identified
Carnavale defined new drill targets after validating and extending known gold occurrences in drilling and soil zones.
Approximately 1,100 soil samples on a nominal 50 x 200-metre grid covering the residual soil profile along the Carnage Shear Zone were examined.
The comprehensive soil sampling program identified drill targets and defined the scale of the anomalism present within the tenement package.
Carnavale is encouraged by the area between its tenements, held by a prospector, which is considered by the company to be part of the anomalous gold zone.
These new and historic gold anomalies include the presence of historic pits that have confirmed the fertility of the geological setting and has encouraged Carnavale to further progress exploration at Ora Banda South.
