Yandal Resources Ltd’s reconnaissance drilling finds high-grade intercepts and improves gold prospectivity in Sims Find

Yandal Resources Ltd has intersected high-grade gold at depth and up to 1.4 kilometres northwest along strike from known mineralisation at its Sims Find gold prospect within the Barwidgee Gold Project, Western Australia.

The results improve the prospectivity of the greater Sims Find area.

Preparation has commenced for a detailed drone magnetic survey over a 7-kilometre by 4-kilometre area to assist with new target generation ahead of follow-up reverse circulation (RC) drilling.

Highlights of the reconnaissance RC drilling include:

  • 6 metres at 8.97 g/t gold from 172 metres, including 1-metre at 40.02 g/t; and
  • 1-metre at 10.25 g/t from 81 metres.

Also, high-impact RC drilling has begun at the Mt McClure Gold Project to test for extensions to known mineralisation.

“High-grade nuggetty nature”

Yandal managing director Lorry Hughes said: “Sims Find is a high-grade system and the new results demonstrate the depth and strike potential could be far greater than we initially thought.

“The high-grade nuggetty nature of the mineralisation will require us to conduct infill drilling to generate robust estimates on the continuity and grade of the most promising lodes.

“Initially we conducted detailed drilling over 400 metres of strike on 50-metre spaced lines which returned some spectacular results up to 129 g/t gold.”

High-grade results

At the Sims Find Prospect, the results have been received from the final eight reverse circulation drill holes completed in the June quarter as a follow-up to earlier shallow high-grade RC intersections completed along strike and beneath historic workings.

Other significant high-grade intersections at Sims Find are:

  • 2 metres at 1.49 g/t gold from 182 metres, including, 1-metre at 2.81 g/t;
  • 2 metres at 2.21 g/t from 293 metres, including, 1-metre at 4.28 g/t;
  • 2 metres at 1.07 g/t from 22 metres including 1-metre at 1.98 g/t;
  • 2 metres at 2.86 g/t from 207 metres including 1-metre at 5.59 g/t; and
  • 1-metre at 1.17 g/t from 102 metres.

Promisingly, the results are considered to be highly encouraging as the limited drilling has intersected high grades within a mineralised system extending over 1.8 kilometres in strike and to depths exceeding 250 metres vertically.

Follow-up program

Hughes adds: “This follow-up program was much more widely spaced at 400 metres along strike and it has returned similar results directly along strike from a limited number of holes.

“We interpret the same mineralising system is present within the widely spaced drilling areas as there is in the closer spaced drilling areas.

“By increasing the density of drilling, it is likely we can increase the number of high-grade intercepts.

"The controlling structures and features of the Sims Find mineralisation are not well understood and future exploration programs will be directed towards understanding the geological framework of the greater area including the margins to the intrusive granite to the south which is known to host historic mineralisation.”

Next steps

Key exploration activities planned during the September and December quarters include:

➢ Receive and interpret RC and aircore assays from drilling completed at the Gordons Dam, Malone, Cleft, Sheperd, Waterline, Star of Gordon and Flushing Meadows North prospects;

➢ Complete two possibly three diamond holes at Malone and one at the Gordons Dam prospect and continue with four rigs to determine target size potential as soon as possible;

➢ Complete magnetic surveys at Sims Find and RC drilling at Mt McClure ahead of determining follow-up drilling programs.
