The week ahead
In the UK, we anticipate the first quarter (Q1) trading update from Avast PLC (LON: AVS) on Tuesday while GB Group PLC (LON:GBG) is also expected to update the market on trading this week.
Avast, which provides cybersecurity products, primarily to the consumer market. reports its Q1 trading update tomorrow. In its full-year results in March, it reporting adjusting billings growth for the year of 7.1%, down from 9.2% in the first half. Following the results, the company announced the sale of its Family Safety Mobile Business to Smith Micro for US$66mln plus a potential earnout. Additionally, Avast and Smith Micro have entered into a strategic partnership.
GB Group, which provides identity data intelligence solutions, is scheduled to update the market on trading this week, ahead of its finals in June. It reported stronger-than-expected trading in its last update in February. Earlier this month, it announced the sale of its Employ and Comply business unit, which represented around 3.4% of revenues in the year to March 2020.
Across the pond, the new quarterly results season kicks off on the tech side today when IBM reports Q1 numbers after the close. Netflix reports its Q1 figures on Tuesday while Intel reports Q1 numbers on Thursday. Other tech-related companies reporting this week include Teradyne, Lam Research, Citrix Systems, Netgear, Snap, Verisign, and Seagate. The reporting season steps up the pace next week when Apple, Amazon, Alphabet and Facebook report.
Additionally, Apple has its "Spring Loaded" event tomorrow where it teases several new products.
