Amex Resources announces substantial magnetite resource at Mba Delta

Amex Resources (ASX: AXZ) has wrapped up its work programme to allow the estimation of its Maiden JORC Mineral Resource for Mba Delta.

The Mba Delta project is held by Amex under Special Prospecting Licence 1463, which covers over 120 km2 at the mouth of the Mba River in the northwest of Viti Levu, in the Fijian Islands.

An Inferred Resource has been estimated for Mba Delta of 153,500,000 Tonnes at 7.3% Magnetite (Iron Sands)

The resource is hosted within unconsolidated alluvial magnetite rich sands at the mouth of the Mba River in the north west of Viti Levu in Fiji.

It comprises four contiguous geomorphic domains, namely Flying Fish, Remora, Sea-Snake and Sting-Ray which together extend for approximately 15km east-west.

Preliminary test work has confirmed that the iron sands readily produce a magnetite concentrate with an Iron content in excess of 58% and desirable metallurgical characteristics, including a potential vanadium ‘credit’.

Amex continues its work programme over the Mba Delta magnetite project, with its Scoping Study scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2010.
