Nanollose Ltd (ASX:NC6) has appointed Carla Woidt as a fashion consultant to assist in further building Nanollose’s established relationships in the Australian and global fashion industry and its commercialisation and implementation strategy.
Woidt has held roles with leading fashion companies globally, provided consultancy services to leading international brands and holds international experience working in London, New York and Rotterdam.
She is also on the board of The Australian Fashion Council, Australia’s peak industry body, established to promote the growth of the textile and fashion industry in Australia.
Textile technology
Nanollose is commercialising scalable technology to create fibres and fabrics with minimal environmental impact.
It uses an eco-friendly fermentation process to grow fibres that could become a sustainable alternative to conventional plant-derived cellulose fibres.
This process, which uses streams from the agriculture and food industries, has the ability to produce ‘Plant-Free’ Cellulose.
“Experience engaging with brands”
Nanollose executive chairman Wayne Best said: “We are delighted to welcome Carla to Nanollose. Her in-depth understanding of the inner workings of the fashion industry will be a considerable benefit as we begin to engage more deeply with brands in 2021.
“In particular, her experience working with the influential design teams within brands will facilitate both the uptake of Nullarbor into their existing product lines and convey how the fibre’s unique features can be best exploited in new collections.”
Operational experience
Woidt has 15 years’ experience across all facets of the fashion industry including product development, design, product processes, supply chain assessment and strategy, business process refinement, sustainable product practice proposal and integration, sourcing, wholesale, textile design and innovation.
The company aims to leverage her in-depth knowledge of internal operations in the fashion industry, which will assist Nanollose with its commercialisation and implementation strategy.
“At the forefront of sustainable fashion”
Woidt said: “I’m very excited to be working with a company such as Nanollose, that is at the forefront of sustainable fashion and I look forward to using my experience to assist with the commercialisation of their Tree-Free fibres.
“I have a strong passion for sustainability and it’s applications to the global textiles and fashion industries, and I look forward to working with the Nanollose team.”
