Predictive Discovery Ltd - Predictive Discovery power auger drilling extends NE Bankan footprint to 1.6 kilometres long
Power auger drilling will recommence in October 2020

Predictive Discovery Ltd’s (ASX:PDI) extensive power auger drilling program across its Bankan Project in Guinea has identified plus 0.25 g/t gold composite intercepts on three more drill lines - expanding the NE Bankan gold mineralised footprint from 1.3 kilometres to 1.6 kilometres in length.

The 498 power auger holes totalling 9,326 metres covered four separate areas in the Bankan Project.

Predictive managing director Paul Roberts said:  “These new power auger results have given us further confidence that our 200 square kilometre ground position in the Kaninko and Saman permits covers a well-mineralised part of the Siguiri Basin, containing strong gold mineralised systems.

“These results and the recent Bankan Creek RC2 and DD3 drill results both confirm that gold mineralisation is not purely focused within the NE Bankan gold zone.”

NE Bankan auger results

The company completed 24-lines of power auger drilling both to the north and south of the NE Bankan gold discovery.

Results from 21-lines with better composite intercepts (from 4 to 20 metres) include:

  • KKOAU714: 16 metres at 3.9 g/t gold including 4 metres at 9.7 g/t;
  • KKOAU624: 16 metres at 1.5 g/t;
  • KKOAU695: 16 metres at 0.8 g/t including 8 metres at 1.5 g/t to end-of-hole; and
  • SAMAU069: 16 metres at 0.6 g/t including 2 metres at 3.2 g/t.

A new power auger drill program designed to follow up this newly identified area will begin as a priority once the rainy season ends, most likely in October.

Holes KKOAU714 and KKOAU624 were drilled on the western edge of the current power auger coverage, southwest of the NE Bankan mineralised zone, suggesting the presence of a new north-south orientated mineralised structure west of the drilled area.

“Gold mineralisation potential”

Roberts said: “The new auger results on the western edge of the auger grid southwest of the 1.6-kilometre-long NE Bankan zone have highlighted potential for more north-south orientated NE Bankan-style/Bankan Creek-style gold mineralisation between the two prospects, particularly as the gold values in the two best holes (KKOAU624 and KKOAU714) show an even gold distribution from 4 metres to the end of hole, similar to what we have already observed at NE Bankan, offering potential to discover comparable primary gold mineralisation at depth.

“Equally importantly, the low gold values observed in the top four metres of both holes (which are immediately followed by continuous well mineralised gold zones) suggest that there is a transported component in the shallow lateritic material, meaning that past surface soil sampling or mapping of artisanal gold sites has been ineffective in exploring the full extent of such gold mineralisation, and that substantially more systematic auger drilling will be required to fully define the area’s potential.”

Regional auger program

The regional auger program consisted of 174-holes totalling 2,932 metres at the SE Saman and Bankan West prospects.

This returned two new targets with high gold grades; one south-west of NE Bankan in the Kaninko permit and another in the south-east section of the Saman permit (SE Saman).

The new targets are:

  • SAMAU154: 16 metres at 4.2 g/t including 2 metres at 31.8 g/t; and
  • SAMAU163: 16 metres at 1.8 g/t including 2 metres at 14.0 g/t.

The drilling also identified a 600 metres-long, east-west orientated +100 parts per billion auger anomaly which will be followed up with further auger and RC drilling.

The company completed a regional auger program with 174-holes totalling 2,932 metres at the SE Saman and Bankan West prospects.

Next steps

Power auger drilling is planned to recommence in October 2020, starting with auger drilling to test areas west of the new gold mineralised holes SW of NE Bankan followed by drilling to extend coverage west of the SE Saman anomaly.

Reverse circulation (RC) drilling on the additional 300 metres of strike at NE Bankan in the Saman permit, drilling from west to east, is also expected to start in October 2020.

RC drilling is also planned in the December quarter on the new gold targets identified southwest of NE Bankan and in the southeast corner of the Saman permit - once they are fully defined by power auger drilling.

The company is awaiting results from a further 60 power auger drill holes along with results from the ongoing RC and west-to-east orientated diamond drilling program.
