Yandal Resources Ltd - Yandal Resources plans new drilling campaigns for March quarter at Gordons Gold Project
The combination reverse criculation and aircore drilling program will cover 5,000 metres

Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) is set to begin new drilling programs at 10 prospects within the Gordons Gold Project in the Kalgoorlie-Boulder region of Western Australia.

The company expects the 5,000-metre combined reverse circulation (RC) and aircore program will complement historical drilling results to better define bedrock exploration targets at depth to assist with the design of optimum locations for an upcoming diamond core drilling program.

Managing director Lorry Hughes said: “This is our largest drilling program to date at the Gordons Dam prospect and we plan to be able to use the results to assist with site selection for follow-up diamond drilling in the June quarter.”

Exploration teams are on standby until ground conditions are sufficiently dry to allow heavy vehicle access to drill sites and, weather permitting, the program will be completed this quarter with assay results available during March and April.

RC drilling

A total of 27 RC holes for around 2,200 metres are planned to test priority targets at the Gordons Dam, Star of Gordon, Mulgarrie North, Mulgarrie Road and Lady Clara prospects.

At Gordons Dam, 15 RC holes for 900 metres will be drilled on a 20 by 25-metre grid to provide initial high-quality data suitable for inclusion in a mineral resource estimate.

The high-grade targets include previous results of:

  • 8 metres at 7.33 g/t from 35 metres including 1-metre at 47.98 g/t from 36 metres, and
  • 8 metres at 7.47 g/t from 34 metres including 3 metres at 18.30 g/t from 34 metres

Aircore program

A total of 47 aircore holes for around 2,800 metres are planned to test priority targets at Gordons Dam, Mt Jewell, Mulgarrie Dam, Hut Dam, Powerline and Star of Gordon prospects.

Most of the 31 holes for 1,860 metres will target extensions to known mineralisation immediately north and south of Gordons Dam.

Hughes said: “Also of interest is the new drilling directly south along strike from Gordons Dam where aircore drilling intercepted low-level gold mineralisation at the end of a number of reconnaissance lines.

“Already we have bedrock gold drilling intercepts over an area over 300 metres in diameter.

“We believe new drilling can extend this and provide us with improved exploration potential”.

Next steps

Yandal plans to begin the drilling program at the Gordons project as soon as the weather allows.

Other exploration activities planned for the remainder of the March quarter include RC and aircore drilling at the Yandal projects, including the Barty, Oblique, Quarter Moon and Barwidgee Shear Zone, Mt McClure prospects.

The company is also waiting to review pending metallurgical test work results for the Flushing Meadows deposit.

Yandal Resources gears up for next round of drilling at Oblique

Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) MD Tim Kennedy gives Proactive a recap on the explorer’s December quarter. Among the highlights were positive results from RC drilling at the Oblique prospect, part of the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee Gold Project, with some intersections indicating broad zones of gold...
