Wizz Air traffic growth flies higher than Ryanair

European budget airlines Ryanair Holdings PLC (LON:RYA) and Wizz Air Holdings (LON:WIZZ) both reported higher traffic numbers for October. 

Ryanair, a day after its interim results, said that traffic for the past month had risen 5% to 13.8mln passengers, with its planes 96% full.

In the six months to end-September, the Irish low-cost carrier grew traffic by 11% to 86mln “guests”.

Meanwhile, Central and Eastern Europe-focused Wizz revealed that October passenger numbers had surged 21% to 3.7mln, with planes 95.3% full.

FTSE 250-listed Wizz also said it had expanded its route network with the addition of Zaporizhzhya in Ukraine, where six new routes will start flying from next March.
