What does Emmerson Resources do?

Emmerson Resources Ltd (ASX:ERM) (FRA:42E) is an Australian copper-gold explorer with assets in the Northern Territory and New South Wales.

The company has a joint venture and various revenue sharing agreements with Territory Resources Limited on the Tennant Creek Mineral Field and also shares in royalties from Edna Beryl and Chariot mines on the field.

Who leads Emmerson Resources?

The company is led by managing director and chief executive officer Rob Bills, a geologist with more than 37 years’ industry experience.

The long-time corporate leader was a senior mine and research geologist with a number of mining majors, including Alumina Limited successor Western Mining Corporation and BHP Group (ASX:BHP) (LON:BHP) (NYSE: BHP).

Bills is joined at the Emmerson boardroom table by non-executive chairman Andrew McIlwain, a mining engineer with more than 25 years’ industry experience who currently leads Unity Mining Ltd as its managing director. He is an experienced director and senior executive who was also a WMC Resources alumnus.

CRU Group consultant Dr Allan Trench joins the duo on the Emmerson board as a non-executive director. Trench is a geologist-geophysicist and minerals economist who brings an exploration and business intelligence skill-set to the table.

What does Emmerson Resources own?

The key assets for the company are in the Northern Territory, at the high-grade copper-gold region around Tennant Creek.

Emmerson’s holds 2,600 square kilometres of ground on the field 500 kilometres north of Alice Springs on the Stuart Highway.

The company’s tenements have good access to infrastructure, including the main highway, rail lines, gas, water, a township and airport services.

Emmerson has sold mining rights to ore mined from Edna Beryl mine to Territory Resources Ltd, a private company which pays the listed small cap a 12% gold production royalty from what is presently an underground mine.

The companies now have a strategic alliance as Territory hopes to commission Warrego Mill in Tennant Creek to support the processing from Emmerson’s small gold mines and other third-party feed in the Northern Territory.

As Territory finishes its Warrego Mill refit, it is toll mining over at Lorena mill near Cloncurry in Queensland and serving up revenues such as a $274,606 royalty for Emmerson in the 2018-19 financial year.

Territory is earning into a stake at operator Emmerson’s Southern Project Area by spending $5 million.

Manager Emmerson will take revenues from a 75:25 profit share under the venture, and can also pocket a 6% gold production royalty from another mine it sold off on the field, Chariot.

Susan prospect at the Southern area has featured standout intersections such as 11 metres grading 48 g/t gold from 26 metres and 8 metres grading 15.7 g/t from 22 metres.

Emmerson wholly owns the Northern Project Area on its Tennant Creek field, which surrounds Territory’s Warrego Mill and tenements held by Evolution Mining. It also sits above the JV area to the south, with its various proposed mines.

Northern Project Area features Mauretania prospect where high-grade results were up to 54.1 g/t gold.

Western Australian company Emmerson also holds exploration assets in New South Wales along the Macquarie Arc.

The arc has served up more than 80 million ounces of gold and 13 million tonnes of copper.
