Doctors risk litigation by communicating about their patients over WhatsApp

Feedback PLC (LON:FDBK) has confirmed online speculation that it is considering an equity raise to fund the development of its clinical message app, Bleepa.

The medical imaging technology firm said it is “working on completing a placing of new shares” but stressed that there can be “no certainty” that such a fundraising will be held.

Feedback plans to launch Bleepa at the NHS Expo in Manchester in early September.

Bleepa is an encrypted medical messaging app that can be used on smartphones, tablets and desktops, allowing clinicians to communicate with other team members securely.

According to an article published in BMJ Innovations, 97% of doctors routinely communicate about their patients over WhatsApp but this leaves users and hospitals exposed to the risk of litigation.
