Solomon Gold reports promising gold and copper results from Guadalcanal sampling

Solomon Gold PLC (AIM: SOLG) said it has received significant copper and gold results from early rock chip and drainage float samples at the recently discovered Levisivisi prospect near Chikora in the Koloula Valley on southern Guadalcanal and significant gold results from Chupukama in central Guadalcanal.

Analytical reports have been received for the early sampling at Levisivisi, and confirm the high copper contents observed in samples of up to 5.77 percent copper and revealed anomalously high gold values up to 7.5 grams per ton of gold. Three other samples assayed 1.39 percent copper and 18.6 g/t silver; 1.12 g/t gold and 0.56 percent copper. Further sample assay results are pending.

Solomon plans a further four weeks the mapping and sampling at Levisivisi The entire intrusive system from Chikora to Vurakara, a distance of 2 kilometres, is considered by Solomon Gold to be prospective and accordingly the mapping and sampling program is extending over this zone.

At Chupukama, the company has received assay results from the first samples collected in the recent mapping program. The prospective mineralized zone is approximately 1 square kilometre in area and known from past sampling programs to be strongly anomalous on the east side. The current program is focused on following up panned concentrate samples in the Tina River on the west side of the complex collected by Kia Ora Gold in the 1980s. Rock samples collected up tributaries in this area have returned up to 7 g/t gold.

On the eastern side of Chupukama in the previously mapped and sampled gold mineralised zone, a confirmatory sample returned 488 g/t but is not considered to be representative. The program is continuing at Chupukama. The company has trenched the core of the prospective zone to test a significant copper anomaly defined in 2008. Assay results for these trenches are due over the next month.
