GoldStone Resources (LON:GRL) has taken another step nearer to drilling at the Homase gold project in Ghana.
It has now signed a drilling contract with Minerex Drilling Contractors Ltd for the upcoming programme, which is scheduled to get underway in June.
The company is earning into an 85 percent stake in Homase through a deal with Cherry Hill Mining – at the moment it owns 51 percent of the project.
In April 2010 Goldstone published a JORC compliant resource for Homase which gave the project a total resource of 6.3 million tonnes grading 1.39 grams per tonne, for 282,608 ounces of gold. The bulk of the resource, 229,829 ounces, is in the measured and indicated resource category.
Last month Goldstone confirmed that it had received an environmental permit for minerals exploration, which green lighted the group’s plans for an initial 4,500 metre drill programme.
Aside from Homase the AIM-listed exploration group has an earlier stage Manso Amenfi exploration project in Ghana, as well as the Sangola project in Senegal. It was also granted two new exploration licences in Gabon at the end of last month.
