Great Bear Resources hails more drilling success at Dixie project, Red Lake

The resource group said ongoing drilling has confirmed high grade structural gold at the Dixie Limb zone, with a highlight intercept of 0.60 meters at a whopping 73.33 grams per ton (g/t) of gold

Drilling success just keeps coming for Great Bear Resources Ltd (CVE:GBR) at its Dixie project in the famous mining area of Red Lake in Ontario.

On Wednesday, the resource group reported that ongoing drilling has confirmed high grade structural gold at the Dixie Limb zone at the property, with a highlight intercept of 0.60 meters at a whopping 73.33 grams per ton (g/t) of gold.

"When I first heard of the Dixie project almost 10 years ago, what we now call the Dixie Limb was the only known significant gold zone on the property," noted Chris Taylor, the CEO at Great Bear.

"At the time, I was told it was a 4 g/t average gold occurrence.  We now know that there are also higher grade gold zones developed along the 600 meter strike length of the target."

Last week, the firm reported a new discovery at Dixie called the Yuma zone, which included assays of 5.5 meters of 4.1 g/t gold beginning at 193.5 meters downhole, including 2 meters of 10.6 g/t gold and 0.5 meters of 36.9 g/t gold.

Also this month, Great Bear expanded its recent high-grade gold discovery at the Hinge Zone at the project.

Taylor told investors that when the firm began defining a significant swarm of gold-bearing quartz veins at the adjacent Hinge Zone, it analyzed drill data at the Dixie Limb and predicted that veins parallel to the Hinge Zone could also intersect it.

The Hinge  and Dixie zones are only separated by around 50 to 200 meters.

"Our drilling has confirmed that steeply-plunging high-grade gold occurs at and near these intersections, and that these intersections are priority drill targets within the Limb. We will continue to drill these zones to define their number, size, gold endowment, and extent to depth," he said.

Highlight assays

Other highlight assays reported by the company on Wednesday, included 12.10 meters of 5.87 g/t gold, which included a high-grade core of 4.60 meters of 14.32 g/t of the  yellow metal.

Great Bear's fully funded 90,000 meter drill program is expected to continue through 2019 and 2020.

Targets tested include the Hinge Zone, Dixie Limb Zone, Bear-Rimini Zone, Yuma Zone, LP Fault, North Fault, and other targets across the property.  A second rig was added in February this year, and a third rig arrived in June this year.

There are around 55,000 meters of drilling remaining in the current program.

Great Bear shares added 1.13% to stand at C$5.37 each.
