Bluejay Mining PLC (LON:JAY) has submitted the social and environmental impact report for its Dundas project in Greenland.
The study concludes there will be a net positive impact for the community from the mineral sands mine.
The new mine is expected to bring significant employment opportunities and economic development to the region and to Greenland in general, the report states.
Engineering consultant NIRAS prepared the report, which has now been presented to the Ministry of Industry, Energy & Research, Government of Greenland.
Camilla Christensen from NIRAS added that the public pre-hearings and stakeholder interviews carried out as part of the SIA also showed very positive support towards the Project.
“The simplicity of the mining and processing mean it can be easily implemented, is well-matched for the available Greenlandic workforce, made up of local communities and is well-suited for elevating the level of qualifications in the mining sector in Greenland.“
Roderick McIllree, BlueJay’s chief executive, said: "The SIA represents another major step towards mine development. We are extremely happy with the positive findings.”
