Mineral exploration hunters, Mariana Resources (AIM: MARL) announced that they had completed a drilling campaign at the Sierra Blanca Joint Venture Project in Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. Mariana Resources is earning a 70% interest in the project from mid-tier gold producer, IAMGOLD (NYSE: IAG).
Mariana completed just over 3000 metres of reverse circulation and diamond drilling over several targets, including Veta Chala, Lucila and Vetarron, which are all highly prospective for gold-silver mineralisation.
Though assays from the drilling are not back from the labs, Mariana did note that many of the holes intersected variable zones of vein breccias, quartz-carbonate veins, quartz stock works and fault breccias. Intersections ranged from 1-2 metres to as high as 30 metres at Veta Chala.
Initial results are expected in a few weeks.
