Soon Mining Limited (ASX:SMG) has signed a corporate social responsibility (CSR) agreement with the local Osubeng community, outlining a proposed mining plan and social contribution programs for its Kwahu Prasu Gold Project in eastern Ghana.

The CSR agreement was signed by Osubeng chiefs, opinion leaders and community representatives and witnessed by a company lawyer on February 9, 2019, after a long period of negotiation.

This breakthrough follows the Ghana Government lifting a 23-month long ban on small-scale mining across the country from December 17, 2018.

Next phase of EPA process

Soon Mining is committed to creating value by planning and maintaining the overall sustainability of the mine and continues to practice responsible mining through effective collaboration and engaging with local stakeholders.

The company expects to officially enter into the CSR phase with the community in the next quarter which will allow the company to continue into the next stage of the EPA application to obtain the permit.

Soon remains optimistic about the remaining EPA procedures to be completed and will make its best endeavour to obtain the EPA permit in order to begin mining.

Once the EPA permit is obtained, the company will be able to begin alluvial gold mining at the Kwahu Praso project
