Celsius Resources Ltd (ASX:CLA) has potential to increase the mineral resource at its Opuwo Cobalt Project in Namibia after receiving strong cobalt, copper and zinc results.

Drilling has confirmed an extension to mineralisation at a new zone dubbed the DOF North West Anticline Target.

Results of up to 0.24% cobalt

Best results include 6.3 metres at 0.19% cobalt and 0.35% copper from 226.70 metres, including 4.03 metres at 0.24% cobalt and 0.37% copper.

Other results are 7.21 metres at 0.12% cobalt, 0.14% copper and 0.63% zinc from 629 metres, and 5.52 metres at 0.15% cobalt, 0.47% copper and 0.64% zinc.

Additional resource potential

Celsius managing director Brendan Borg said the results continued to demonstrate significant resource potential outside the large existing mineral resource.

“Additionally, the company is excited by the potential for this area to allow consideration of alternative mining techniques and mine plans for extraction of the mineralisation.”

Drilling results from DOF North West Anticline.

Flatter mineralisation

The new zone is characterised by thicker than average and significantly flatter dipping DOF-style mineralisation than occurs elsewhere within the existing resource.

This feature allows Celsius to consider alternative techniques for mining at Opuwa.

The company is planning further drilling when site operations recommence later this week.

Resource update deferred

Given the potential significance of these results, Celsius has deferred completing a mineral resource update to allow results from this area to be considered for inclusion.

The update is expected to be released prior to the updated scoping study scheduled for March 2019.

A maiden JORC-compliant indicated and inferred resource was announced in April 2018, comprising 112.4 million tonnes at 0.11% cobalt, 0.41% copper and 0.43% zinc.

Assay results are pending from another hole about 1.5 kilometres from the outcropping, where geological logging identified a mineralised intercept in excess of 10 metres.
