Frontier IP Group Plc (LON:FIPP) saw the value of its portfolio of its university spin-outs rise by almost 50% in its latest half-year.

Main investments Exscientia, an AI-based drug researcher, secured a €15mln strategic investment from Evotec, while food additive group Nandi Protein raised £1mln.

Neil Crabb, chief executive, added there was strong interest in its portfolio generally, which reflected the success of the strategy to take stakes at a very early stage of the commercialisation process.

Frontier IP shares were steady at the market open, up 0.58% at 85p.
