Lefroy Exploration Ltd (ASX:LEX) plans to begin drilling the Capstan target of its Lefroy Gold Project in Western Australia after auger sampling confirmed a large surface anomaly.

The company intends to begin an air core drilling program next month to evaluate the bedrock in the immediate area of the gold anomaly.

A program of works for the first pass drilling has been lodged with the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety.

Adjacent to Lucky Strike Trend

The Capstan gold anomaly, which has not been evaluated by drilling, is adjacent to the Lucky Strike Trend.

Given this proximity, the company considers Capstan as a high priority target.

Operating mines are nearby

Lefroy, which is 50 kilometres from Kalgoorlie, is east of Gold Fields Limited’s (JSE:GFI) St Ives Invincible gold mine and south of Silver Lake Resources Limited’s (ASX:SLR) Mt Monger gold centre.

Four operating gold plants are within 50 kilometres of the project and provide potential processing options for the company.

The company considers the Capstan anomaly to be significant when placed in context of the gold mineralisation intersected at Lucky Strike.

Assay results from Lucky Strike are expected by mid-February and Zanex by late-February.
