Amazon rolls out unlimited music streaming service to 28 new markets

Amazon has become a rival to Spotify and Apple Music in music-streaming

Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) on Friday launched its unlimited music streaming service in 28 new markets, just over a year after introducing it in the US.

Amazon Music Unlimited has landed in new markets across Europe and Latin America, including Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Finland, the Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, and Uruguay.

The service is an extension to Amazon Prime Music, which offers a limited selection of tracks as part of the annual Prime Membership.

The company first introduced the unlimited on-demand music service in October last year, going head-to-head with the likes of Spotify and Apple Music.

It includes four plans: US$4 per month for access on a single Amazon Echo device; a discounted US$8 per month for access on any compatible device with a Prime subscription and $10 per month for everyone else.

The Echo smart speakers can be used to request tracks, though the device is still only available in English, Japanese and German.
