Thor Mining pleased with latest cores from Pilot Mountain tungsten project in Nevada

Thor said it had identified several scheelite mineralised intervals (for tungsten) and sulphide that potentially was a source of copper

Thor Mining PLC (LON:THR) has reported more encouraging core samples from its Desert Scheelite deposit at the Pilot Mountain tungsten project in Nevada.

Assays have now been sent off for analysis to assess exact quantities, but Thor said it had identified several scheelite mineralised intervals and sulphide that potentially was a source of copper.

Thor added in a statement that drilling of this latest hole, 17DS-DD01, had been more challenging than expected and the next hole will be sited to the south.

Permission will be needed for this which has meant a temporary halt to drilling at Desert Scheelite, with the rig now back at the Good Hope deposit re-drilling hole 17GH-RC01.

Scheelite is a source ore for tungsten. Thor said hole DD1 identified 15 metres(m) of mineralisation from a depth of 198 metres, 4m from 217m and 18m from 256m, with this last core also containing sub massive sulphide mineralisation (for copper), including chalcopyrite, for 5m from 256m and for a further 4m from 266m.

Mick Billing, executive chairman, said the core samples were very encouraging.

"Desert Scheelite continues to shape as a very exciting deposit, amongst the suite of deposits at Pilot Mountain with extremely promising growth potential."
