Xstate Resources watches progress at Sidi Dhaher-1 well in Tunisia

Xstate Resources (ASX:XST) would be watching the story unfold at the Sidi Dhaher-1 well in Tunisia with considerable interest. The well has a 300 million barrel (recoverable) Prospective Resource.

The well spudded at 07:00am GMT on Saturday 27 August 2011. Xstate is earning a 10% interest in the well. The Sidi Dhaher well has a planned total depth of 2,168 metres and is expected to take about 33 days to drill.

Operator, Xstate Resources (ASX: XST) said that it had successfully drilled 16” hole to a total depth of 1,001 metres and located competent formation for casing shoe and started to prepare for 13 3/8” casing operations.

The current operation is running casing.

On current prognosis the 12 ¼” hole is expected to intersect the first potentially hydrocarbon bearing target (Eocene reservoir) later this week.

The Sidi Dhaher prospect is located in the 2,428km2 large Chorbane Exploration Permit onshore central Tunisia near the port city of Sfax. It is surrounded by several producing oil fields and extensive oil and gas infrastructure.
