Platinum as well as is on the menu at Hanns Camp

Strategic Minerals (LON:SML) may widen the scope of exploration of its Hanns Camp prospect to include platinum after strong traces were found in a hole just drilled.

Partner and operator CARE is exploring for nickel at the site in Western Australia and two of the three holes drilled showed anomalous intervals of the steel additive.

The first hole indicated 14m averaging 0.8% nickel, while the third hole showed 0.66% also over 14m.

It was the third hole that included the platinum indications, at 215 parts per billion over 14m.

John Peters, managing director, said:  "The lab results received are very encouraging as they have identified traces of the targeted nickel sulphide as well as the possibility of a commercial platinum deposit.

Next will be the technical team's full review and assessment of the likely nickel sulphide accumulations, he said.
