Sunrise Resources PLC chairman Patrick Cheetham (LON:SRES) said he was “particularly excited” by the firm’s “exposure to the resurgent gold sector in Nevada” as he updated on progress.
In fact he is so convinced of the mineral potential of America’s desert state he has set up a Sunrise subsidiary to acquire projects there.
Aided by a recent, modest funding round, which took Cheetham’s share of Sunrise to around 8.6%, the company is making progress on the ground.
Surface and underground sampling on an area to the south of the existing exploration plots continue at the Bay State silver project, Nevada, in preparation for follow-up drilling.
Trenching and soil sampling will be carried out on the Garfield and Junction gold-copper projects, also in Nevada, to find high-grade surface mineralisation.
Staying in the same state, but switching to cement and the Pozz Ash project, test work is being carried out on the material the company is sitting on there.
Finally, in Australia, the exploration team of the Cue Diamond project is trying to locate “kimberlite float and additional kimberlite geophysical anomalies”.
Chairman Cheetham told investors: "I am pleased to have increased my interest in the company by participating in our recent fundraising and look forward to reporting results from our work programmes over the coming months.
“I am particularly excited about increasing our exposure to the resurgent gold sector in Nevada, one of the major gold producing areas of the world, where a five-year decline in the junior resource sector has opened up some great opportunities."
