Argonaut Gold Inc. (TSX:AR) is undergoing a boardroom shuffle after it added a new director and nominated another.
Engineer Audra Walsh, who has more than 20 years of mining industry experience including senior roles at Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE:ABX) and Newmont Mining Corporation (NYSE:NEM), has been added to the board immediately.
She is currently the CEO of a mining company in Spain, and sits on the board of a number of other firms including Orvana Minerals Corp (TSX:ORV).
Meanwhile, geologist Ian Atkinson has been nominated to join the board with a vote taking place at the upcoming Annual General and Special Meeting on May 3, 2016.
He currently serves as director of Kinross Gold Corporation (NYSE:KGC) and Globex Mining Enterprises Inc (LON:GMX) and was previously director, President and CEO of Centerra Gold Inc (TSX:CG).
Atkinson would replace David Watkins, who is retiring and will not be standing for re-election at the meeting.
Chairman of the board, Jim Kofman, said: “Their wealth of experience will be a tremendous asset to all Argonaut stakeholders as we continue our goal of transforming the Company into a mid-tier producer.”
Additionally, the company also announced the hiring of Daniel Symons as Vice President, investor relations.
