Costco reports strong sales growth in fiscal third quarter

Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST, XETRA:CTO) reported fiscal third quarter financial results that topped Wall Street expectations, though shares were little changed in after-hours trading on Thursday.

The warehouse retailer posted earnings of $4.93 per diluted share, slightly ahead of the consensus estimate of $4.91.

Revenue came in at $70.53 billion, above expectations of $69.50 billion and up from the prior-year period.

Net income for the quarter ended May 10 rose to $2.19 billion, or $4.93 per share, compared with $1.90 billion, or $4.28 per share, a year earlier.

Digitally enabled comparable sales climbed 21.5% during the quarter.

For the first 36 weeks of fiscal 2026, Costco reported net income of $6.23 billion, or $14.01 per diluted share, compared with $5.49 billion, or $12.34 per diluted share, in the same period last year. Revenue for the period rose 9.6% to $203.37 billion.

Costco said it currently operates 931 warehouses globally, including 639 in the United States and Puerto Rico and 115 in Canada.
