Serval Resources completes quick field programme in Botswana, sharpens focus on Ngwako Pan and D’Kar targets

Serval Resources PLC (LSE:SRVL) said ground geophysics at its PL061 licence in Botswana has sharpened the focus for future copper-silver exploration in the Kalahari Copper Belt.

The AIM-listed explorer completed a 121 line-kilometre survey over 84 lines, aimed at better defining the Ngwako Pan and D’Kar Formation contact, the target horizon for copper-silver mineralisation in the region.

Serval said interpreted contacts for the two formations were identified in the southern portion of the surveyed area, where future exploration efforts can now be concentrated.

Chief executive Robin Birchall said the programme had been completed quickly and in line with Serval’s “systematic exploration” approach, while maintaining capital discipline.

"I am delighted to report that we have completed another field programme in Botswana, in short turnaround time and in alignment with our commitment to keep on doing systematic exploration work, building our understanding of the geology, whilst maintaining capital discipline," Birchall said.

"It is encouraging that this ground geophysics programme has indicated the potential presence of the D'Kar and Ngwako Pan Formations within our licence area and provides a focus for future exploration efforts."

The survey also mapped a northeast-southwest trending gradient zone, interpreted as possible faulting, shearing or reactivation, separating the northern and southern portions of the grid.

The northern area is interpreted as volcanic units with variable sedimentary interbeds, while the southern area appears less structurally deformed and is interpreted as D’Kar and Ngwako Pan formations.
