The Small Cap Weekly Wrap: Quarterly season sees small caps put up some big numbers and successful outcomes

88 Energy Ltd (AIM:88E, ASX:88E, OTCQB:EEENF, FRA:POQ) confirmed a cash position of some A$6.8 million at the end of December as it today released its quarterly activities report.

The obligatory report for Australian-listed companies, as is customary, gave investors a rundown of the portfilio, and as such noted that 88 Energy had secured fourteen new Alaska North Slope leases covering 34,560 acres in the North Slope Fall 2025 bid round. It highlighted that seven of the leases are at South Prudhoe and cover about 16,640 acres.

Barkly Rare Earths (ASX: BAK) made a strong ASX debut today, jumping almost 50% to 29.5c in early trade after raising $8 million to fund work at its Barkly rare earths project in the Northern Territory. The company is up 30% a half hour before the close of its first trading session, sitting at 26 cents per share.

The IPO was priced at 20c a share late last year and was comfortably oversubscribed amid renewed focus on securing Western rare earth supply chains, with China again signalling potential export restrictions.

Cobalt Blue told investors it completed a re-evaluation of KCR project parameters in response to structural changes in global cobalt markets during 2025. The updated approach narrows feedstock assumptions to cobalt hydroxide, expands the product mix to include cobalt metal alongside cobalt sulphate, and refreshes underlying economic assumptions ahead of FID.

Atomic Eagle Ltd (ASX:AEU, FRA:6QZ0) has outlined a significant boost in the scale of its flagship Muntanga Uranium Project in Zambia, declaring a substantial new Exploration Target and delivering encouraging results from maiden drilling programs completed during and shortly after the December 2025 quarter.

The company announced a JORC-compliant Exploration Target of 82 million–150 million tonnes (Mt) grading 150–350ppm U₃O₈ at Muntanga, equivalent to about 40 million–100.5 million pounds (Mlb) of contained uranium. The target sits in addition to Muntanga’s existing Mineral Resource base and highlights the project’s potential to grow materially beyond its current footprint.

The December 2025 quarter marked the completion of a 2025 drill campaign spanning the full 4.5-kilometre strike length of the Mt York gold system, with 128 reverse circulation and diamond holes drilled for 26,971 metres. Imugene Ltd (ASX:IMU, OTC:IUGNF, FRA:ILA) reported further positive clinical results during the December 2025 quarter, with its azer-cel Phase 1b trial achieving an Overall Response Rate of 82% in patients with relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).

Of the 17 evaluable patients treated, 14 responded to therapy, including seven complete responses and seven partial responses. The company said responses were rapid, with best responses typically observed within one to three months, and noted that the first patient dosed in 2024 remains cancer-free more than 21 months later.

BOA has identified multiple copper targets at Neds Creek, including the advanced Ricci Lee prospect, located 2km southwest of the Thaduna Copper Deposit, which hosts 5.5Mt at 2.2% copper. Ricci Lee extends over about 500 metres and has returned ore-grade copper intercepts, with the company planning to prioritise the prospect for resource definition drilling.
