NextEnergy Solar Fund names former Drax finance chief as new chair

NextEnergy Solar Fund Ltd (LSE:NESF) has hired Tony Quinlan as its new chair, handing the former Drax Group finance chief the job from 3 December 2025.

Quinlan is best known for helping steer Drax through its shift from coal to biomass, giving him long experience with the electricity market and the economics of renewable power.

He later ran Laird, an engineering group, and now sits on the boards of Costain and Hill & Smith. Alongside chairing the fund, he will join its committees covering management engagement, environmental and social matters, and remuneration.

He replaces Paul Le Page, who has been interim chair since May and will return to his previous role as a non-executive director.

Le Page said the board had run a “competitive independent process”, adding: “Tony's background in the energy and infrastructure sectors and his strong reputation for integrity, sound judgment and shareholder engagement further strengthens the board's governance and skill set.”
