Markets in a Minute: Riversgold and Lithium Universe soar, Emerald and Mesoblast stumble

The ASX200 tried to stay afloat, but struggled, finishing the day down by about .07 of a per cent.

Today's top performing sector was Materials, whilst IT and healthcare both fell behind.

Riversgold (ASX:RGL) shot up on news it's expanding its footprint in Western Australia’s gold heartland, striking a deal to acquire new ground north of its Northern Zone Project in Kalgoorlie. The move boosts its project area by around 170%.

And Lithium Universe (ASX:LU7) had a stellar day after reportedly achieving a breakthrough in solar panel recycling in partnership with Macquarie University - and unveiling a new electrode design that dramatically boosts silver recovery.

Emerald Resources (ASX:EMR) plunged after the company flagged lower-than-expected production at its Okvau Gold Mine. First-quarter output is expected to hit around 22,000 ounces at an all-in sustaining cost of about US$1,150 per ounce, impacted by heavy September rains.

And Mesoblast (ASX:MSB) plunged even after its Ryoncil® therapy secured a permanent U.S. Medicare and Medicaid J-Code — simplifying billing, improving reimbursement, and broadening patient access. The treatment remains the first FDA-approved cell therapy for children under 12 with steroid-refractory acute graft-versus-host disease.
