The Jeff Bezos-owned aerospace company Blue Origin is swapping its CEO for an outgoing Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) executive, according to reports.
Blue Origin CEO Bob Smith plans to retire on December 4, at which point Amazon’s senior vice president of devices and services David Limp will step into the role. In August, Amazon announced that Limp would depart the company later in 2023 after 13 years.
At Amazon, Limp led the company’s Alexa, Echo and Ring divisions, in addition to Zoox autonomous vehicles and Project Kuiper internet satellites.
“I’ve worked closely with Dave for many years,” Bezos wrote in a memo to Blue Origin employees on Monday. “He is the right leader at the right time for Blue.”
