Instacart retreats towards IPO price after Tuesday’s giddy Nasdaq debut

Instacart (NASDAQ:CART)) traded more than 5% lower, to $31.88, as the Nasdaq’s newest listing retreats back towards the IPO offer price – after yesterday’s initially giddy market debut temporarily spiked the market price by over 40%.

The grocery shopping and delivery app firm initially saw its shares trade at an intraday high of $42 on Tuesday.

It raised its IPO price to $30 a share on Monday, valuing the company at about $10 billion, after previously setting a price range of $26 to $28 last week.

This is a fraction of the $39 billion it was worth in 2021 as the pandemic spurred demand for online grocery deliveries.

Instacart (NASDAQ:CART)’s impressive market debut, which followed in the footsteps of ARM and RayzeBio last week, signals that the IPO market may finally be recovering after a downturn in activity for the last 18 months.
