Sliding into September it's back-to-school time, with autumnal weather and a new round of blue-chip companies reporting results, including Ashtead, Currys, Halfords, Direct Line and Melrose.
Housebuilders Barratt and Berkeley also will be posting updates, fresh from reports of big falls in house prices but relaxation of environmental rules.
Outside of London companies, the new month's economic data will come flying in, including PMI services sector data, retail and new car sales, plus interest rate decisions for Canada and Australia, while US earnings season tails off.

Dechra Pharmaceuticals PLC (LSE:DPH) is scheduled to report final results on Monday, fresh from confirmation of what is likely to be a short-lived promotion back to the FTSE 100.
The veterinary pharmaceutical company accepted a £4.5 billion takeover bid from Swedish private equity firm EQT in June, following two months of talks.
