Graft Polymer surges after winning pharma sector contract

Graft Polymer (UK) PLC (LSE:GPL) shares surged 39% higher to 3.05p after winning a contract in the pharmaceutical sector.

The London-listed company, which has developed techniques for combining normally incompatible polymers, hailed the manufacturing agreement for a blood-clotting product with an unnamed Israeli firm.

The product transforms from a powder into a gel upon contact with blood, effectively clotting blood from within a wound and so offering potential applications in emergency medical services, military use and general over-the-counter consumer use.

Graft Polymer said the contract will make use of its GraftBio facility to produce bio-polymers for drug delivery in the pharmaceutical sector, with its own research and development capabilities used to further refine the product.
