Shares in Nikola Corp (NASDAQ:NKLA) fell in premarket trading at the start of the week after the company voluntarily recalled around 209 Class 8 Tre battery-electric vehicles.
Nikola shares were down 14.87% to $1.66 in premarket deals.
The company, a rival to Tesla EV, also temporarily halted sales of new BEVs until a resolution is in place.
The company said in a statement last week that the safety of customers, dealers, and team members is its top priority, adding that the recall is a precautionary measure.
“Internal investigations from Nikola’s safety and engineering teams indicate a single supplier component within the battery pack as the likely source of the coolant leak and efforts are underway to provide a field remedy in the coming weeks,” the company said.
