Will Goldman Sach's Petershill Partners fund unveil a new buyback plan?

Given the weakness in Petershill Partners PLC (LSE:PHLL) shares, investors will be keen to see if there is another share buyback announced, said UBS ahead of results from the Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) closed-ended fund.

Since Goldman floated the investment company in October 2021, its shares have more than halved.

"We think the market is applying a discount on PHLL's shares as a result of its unique structure as a closed-end fund," analysts said.

"Given the close correlation between the contribution of management fees to total revenues and valuation multiples, we estimate the market assigns a circa 50% discount to Petershill's valuation versus an actual private market manager."

Investors are expected to be most focused on the usual metrics, partner fee-related earnings (FRE), where the City consensus is for £218mln and UBS is looking for just over £220mln, and partner distributable earnings, where the average forecast is for £314mln and UBS has estimated £325.2mln.
