Sports fans looking to purchase Lionel Messi’s Argentina jersey following the soccer legend’s first FIFA World Cup win this past weekend should prepare to be disappointed.
Adidas confirmed to CNN on Monday that it has sold out of Messi and Argentina team kits worldwide after reports earlier this week that it was struggling to keep up with demand for the jerseys.
But Argentina fans won’t have to wait too long to rep their team with official merchandise. In a statement to CNN, the German sportswear brand said it was “working to meet the extraordinary demand for jerseys and more stock will be available soon.”

“Since their history-making win, we have produced a range of immediately available celebratory apparel and we will also create a brand new version of their iconic jersey, featuring three stars to mark their third World Championship, for fans around the globe as soon as possible," Adidas said.
The World Cup has been a major boost for Adidas, bringing in approximately US$424 million in “event-related sales” during 4Q.
