Rene Pastor is a long-time financial journalist who worked for nearly 23 years with Reuters and was with the South China Morning Post for four years as a business and remote news editor. Rene is a native of the Philippines who covered the financial impact of the 9/11 attacks when all financial markets in New York shut down and wrote about the damage inflicted by Hurricane Katrina on metal and coffee warehouses in New Orleans. He has covered economic summits in Southeast Asia, the World Trade Organization ministerial meeting in Singapore, and supervised commodity market coverage during the 1997 Asian financial crisis. Rene is married to wife Cristina, who is a community journalist in New York, and has a daughter.
