Glenn Ives, Leader of the Deloitte North and South Americas Mining Practice, reveals predictions for the mining sector and highlights from Deloitte's newly released "2013 Tracking the trends" report. Between escalating project costs and increased demand from Asia driving projects forward, Ives predicts that the mining sector will undergo a revolution in the next 10 to 15 years. Major mining companies will focus more on large-scale projects, which will lead to increased M&A activity in small but worthwhile assets. Tougher regulations means development times will extend, which could see the rise in output, lagging the rise in demand.
