Alice Queen Limited (ASX:AQX) is drilling at its Yarindury and Boda East projects on the highly copper-gold prospective Northern Molong Volcanic Belt in the Macquarie Arc of New South Wales.
Drilling has resumed at the Yarindury Project while a maiden drill program is being carried out at Boda East.'
Near Boda discovery
Both projects are near the Boda discovery of Alkane Resources Limited (ASX:ALK) which has sparked strong interest in the Northern Molong belt.
The proposed 2,800-metre mud rotary-diamond drill program is expected to be completed in early August, with assay results and petrography expected to be released shortly thereafter.
A further five drill holes are planned and two former holes are to be extended.
Anomalies to be tested
Drilling is planned to test four anomalies with the order of the drilling subject to site conditions:
- Bullaburra: (Two holes);
- Woodlands (Extend 20YDDH008 and one new hole);
- Forest View (Extend 19YDDH006); and
- Boda East (Two holes).
Alice Queen’s managing director Andrew Buxton said: “We are very excited to be drilling again in the region to test these quality targets in such a highly prospective district so soon after reporting our final results from our first program at Yarindury.”
Nine mud rotary-diamond drill holes were completed on EL8646, Yarindury, during the 2019-2020 spring-summer period.
Encouraging signs of fertile porphyry copper-gold systems, such as distal garnet-bearing skarnoid, chalcopyrite mineralisation, intermediate volcaniclastic host rocks and intrusions and a Late Ordovician shoshonitic monzonite were encountered.
During the intervening period, follow-up drilling has been planned and permitted to progress the exploration of this highly prospective licence area.
Details of the program
Two vertical mud rotary-diamond holes are proposed to test the core of Bullaburra, a prominent elliptical magnetic anomaly with 4 x 2-kilometre dimensions in plan and a deep residual magnetic signal.
At Woodlands, a complex magnetic anomaly which is interpreted as the northern continuation of the Comobella Intrusive Suite, hole 20YDDH008 will be extended.
An angled, southwest directed hole, 140 metres to the SSE of that hole is also planned to test across the magnetic strike of the anomaly.
At the Forest View anomaly, Alice Queen plans to extend the single vertical drill hole 19YDDH006 by a further 200 metres to investigate the source of the basement.
Two 600-metre-long west-dipping diamond holes are planned at Boda East anomaly, to test Ordovician basement for copper-gold mineralisation.
These holes are the start of campaign work in the area for the company and will inform a future more comprehensive work program along the 12-kilometre-long Boda East target area.
Boda East anomaly is the northern extension of the Boda magnetic complex.
Alkane’s Boda Prospect lies within the magnetic complex and is only around 750 metres west of the EL8646 tenement boundary.
