Kin Mining drilling returns more shallow gold intercepts at Cardinia Hill discovery

Results correlate with and build on results from the past few weeks, confirming shallow mineralisation and increasing geological understanding of the emerging discoveries.

Kin Mining NL - Kin Mining drilling results return more shallow gold intercepts at Cardinia Hill
The prospects sit around 2.5 kilometres east of the proposed processing plant site at the Cardinia Gold Project

Kin Mining NL (ASX:KIN) has received further shallow gold intercepts in drilling at Cardinia Hill discovery of the Cardinia Gold Project (CGP) near Leonora in Western Australia with the footprint of mineralisation extended along strike to the north and down-dip.

Final assay results have been received from reverse circulation (RC) drilling at Cardinia Hill and aircore drilling at Helens East prospect, which sit around 2.5 kilometres east of the proposed processing plant site at the CGP.

These results correlate with and build on the positive results announced over the past few weeks, continuing to confirm significant shallow mineralisation as well as to increase Kin’s geological understanding of these emerging discoveries.

Encouraging results

Best RC results from Cardinia Hill:

  • 8 metres at 3.81 g/t gold from 4 metres,
  • 8 metres at 2.38 g/t from 18 metres, and 9 metres at 2.31 g/t from 56 metres,
  • 4 metres at 5.15 g/t from 32 metres, and 6 metres at 1.92 g/t from 66 metres,
  • 9 metres at 1.72 g/t from 42 metres.

Managing director Andrew Munckton said: “We are continuing to build the geological picture at Cardinia Hill, with the latest results providing further important insights into what appears to be a significant zone of shallow mineralisation extending over a 500 metres strike length.

“The final batch of assays from the recent RC program have continued to define high-grade zones and confirmed extensions of the mineralisation along strike to the north and down-dip."

As with the prior drilling, the multi-element assays of mineralised intervals returned silver, arsenic, molybdenum, antimony, tellurium, and tungsten - all associated with sulphide mineralisation.

"Clearer picture"

Munckton said: “We now have a much clearer picture of the orientation and controls on the mineralised lodes, and we are looking forward to getting back into the field as soon as possible to drill out this exciting discovery to facilitate a maiden JORC mineral resource estimate.”

The new results have suggested the presence of a cross-cutting structural host to the mineralisation, as opposed to the stratigraphy-parallel interpretation initially developed.

Notable aircore results at Helens East from eight holes include 4 metres at 0.55 g/t from 28 metres.

Multi-pronged program

All assays have now been returned from the Cardinia Hill RC and Helens East aircore programs, with assays still pending for the recent RC program at Lewis East.

The company is planning the next multi-pronged exploration program at the CGP, with further drilling to step out from these results and define the extent of this area of the deposit.

Munckton said: “Cardinia Hill is just one of several emerging areas that we plan to drill aggressively in the coming months.

“While the final assays from the aircore program at Helens East were unsuccessful in confirming a significant northern extension of the Cardinia Hill mineralisation, there is plenty of follow-up work to do at Helens East and Helens South.

“We are awaiting final assays from Lewis East, which should be reported shortly, and planning is already underway on our next phase of exploration.

"This will encompass Cardinia Hill, Helens South/East, Comedy King/Faye Marie and other emerging areas that will be described more fully in an exploration update to be provided in the coming weeks.”
